Each job is followed by an email and/or a call from U.S. designated sponsor. Employer must confirm the information details provided to the sponsor to avoid overstaffing and assure the information is accurate and up to date. The vetting covers confirmation of information provided on the Job offer such as names of hired students, working dates, salary etc. Sometimes employers might be asked to fill additional documents/forms or repeatedly send copies of Workers compensation, Business license. There is a list of U.S designated sponsors who can be responsible for vetting the Job. The Sponsor is not and cannot be chosen by employer. However having employer’s preferences for sponsor BEFORE the hiring process starts employer may get a selected list of students vetted only by the chosen sponsor.
A complete list of designated J1 visa sponsors of the Work and Travel USA program can be found on the website of the U.S. State Department here.
